OFF SEASON TRAINING SQUAD
“COME INTO THE SEASON STRONG AND CONFIDENT”
THE GOAL FOR THE OFF SEASON TRAINING SQUAD IS TO HELP AND PREPARE ATHLETES FOR THE SEASON OF RACING. THROUGHOUT THE FOUR MONTHS OF TRAINING, WE WILL PROGRESS APPROPRIATELY BASED ON YOUR ABILITY LEVEL.
WHO CAN JOIN?
IF YOU ARE AMBITIOUS, STUCK IN A TRAINING RUT, NOT SEEING IMPROVEMENT, WOULD LIKE A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO YOUR OFF SEASON TRAINING THEN THIS IS YOUR GROUP. IF YOU HAVE BEEN IN THE SPORT OF TRIATHLON FOR OVER 2 YEARS, THIS SQUAD WOULD BE A GOOD FIT. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS GROUP IS NOT AIMED TOWARDS BEGINNERS WITH NO BACKGROUND IN ENDURANCE SPORT. WE ASK THAT YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE IN SWIM, BIKE, RUN, TRAINING STRUCTURE. OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE ATHLETES ACHIEVE PERSONAL BREAKTHROUGHS IN TRAINING THAT WILL LEAD TO THEIR BEST SEASON OF RACING.
WHAT’S THE SQUAD TRAINING FOR?
WHEN YOU FINISH THE SQUAD IN MAY, YOU WILL 100% PREPARED FOR A SPRINT AND OLYMPIC AND ALMOST READY FOR A 70.3 IN JUNE/JULY.
HOW HARD WILL THE TRAINING BE?
WE ASK THAT YOU COME INTO THE SQUAD WITH 1 MONTH OF TRAINING OVER 6-7 HOURS PER WEEK (OFF SEASON/HOLIDAY MONTH, LETS BE HONEST). ONCE WE START IN JANUARY WE WILL BEGIN OUR 1ST PHASE OF OVER GEAR WORK, TEMPO, AND SWEET SPOT. THIS PHASE WILL NOT BE “INTENSE” BUT WILL PREPARE YOUR BODY FOR THE VO2 MAX PHASE. ONCE WE ENTER OUR VO2 MAX PHASE, THESE SESSIONS WILL BE VERY HARD.

FOCUS: WE WILL DIVE DEEP INTO THE OFF SEASON TRAINING AND GO THROUGH MULTIPLE TRAINING PHASES TO FOCUS ON IMPROVING YOUR MUSCULAR STRENGTH, INCREASING YOUR VO2 MAX, AND FUNCTIONAL THRESHOLD POWER (FTP).
WHY: IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO BECOME A BETTER ATHLETE, SEE IMPROVEMENTS IN ALL THREE SPORTS, THEN THIS IS THE PLAN FOR YOU.
TYPES OF TRAINING: THE OFF SEASON IS THE TIME WHERE YOU WILL SEE MOST OF YOUR IMPROVEMENTS. IN THIS STAGE, YOU WILL SEE ALL TYPES OF INTENSITIES AND FOCUSES.
